Part №27. Let's stir a brain crinkle?!

Pushkin and chess

We‘ll devote today's release of a chess heading to the genius of poetry - to Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. It is known that the grand master of graceful literature loved chess and devoted a considerable part of time to them.
Pushkin got acquainted with chess during his studies in theTsarskoje Selo’s lycéum. Having married, he trained his wife in knowledge of the game.
In one of his letters to her he wrote: «I give thanks, my soul, that you study playing chess, it is by all means necessary in any well arranged family. I’ll prove it later». By the way, the wife of the poet - Natalia Nikolaevna Goncharova - appeared to be very talented and soon became the best lady-chessplayer of St. Petersburg...
Pushkin kept up with the book novelties on chess subjects. In the library of the poet in a place of honour there were two copies of the book of the first Russian master Alexander Petrov «A Chess game resulted in a regular order, with the games of Filidor and the notes to them».
One of the books was signed by the well-known chess player: «to Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin as a sign of true respect».
It is known that Pushkin was the subscriber of the first chess magazine "Palamed" published in Paris…

The task №9

#2

Let's remember once again the immortal lines from Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin's novel "Evgenie Onegin": «And Lensky with a Pawn takes his own Castle in distraction».
Quite probably that the position №9 found in the archive is just the same as that which arose in the party between Vladimir Lensky and Olga Larina!
It is necessary to return back the incorrect move made by Lensky, playing White, and put a mate in two moves.

The task №10

In the same archive a curious position №10 from one party more between Larina and Lensky was found . The accompanying document was attached to the position «At this moment a fly sat down on the board. Olga, playing White, laughed and told Vladimir that if she made an Elephant from the fly she would declare the Black a mate in three moves…» So, dear solvers, on what square of a chessboard did the fly sit down, and how was Olga Larina going to put a mate in three moves?

The task №11
