Part №1. Perturb the cerebral convolutions?!

«A touchstone of human mind» the great German poet and thinker Johann Goethe named this game. “The world which is not knowing neither vanities nor death» - it was called so by brilliant writer Erich Maria Remarque …

William Shakespeare was fond of this game as well as François-Mari Arue dе Voltaire, Alexander Pushkin, Dmitry Mendeleyev, Lev Tolstoy, Sergey Prokofiev, Michael Bulgakov

It is possible to sound very much and very long this list of the ingenious persons loving this game.

There is no question, I think, what game the speech goes about and it won’t cause special difficulties for you.

Yes, we speak about chess!

Game occurrence is shrouded with mystery of beautiful legends. Here one of the most impressing.

In ancient times in India there lived a very cruel tsar who did not have the ability to operate the country well.

But how to tell to the master without threat for life that he had to listen to councils of wise people?

And then one of the servants has thought up a game in which the leader means nothing without the aid of the citizens!

There is no mention, whether the hint has reached the tsar but he liked the game. Wishing to award the inventor, he promised to satisfy any of his requests.

In the answer the servant gave to the tsar "a modesty" lesson as well!

He has wished to receive in the award …. wheaten grains!

For the first section of a chessboard to give him one grain, for the second – two, behind third – four, and further to double quantity of grains with each section. The tsar, having counted such a desire trifling, ordered to pour “the fee” immediately. However it did not turn out to do it quickly: only the next day his court accountants informed the master, that it was not in their forces to pay off with the inventor.

The number of grains has appeared to be improbably big! For numbers’ fans – this quantity is equal to18 446 744 073 709 551 615. From this release we start a chess marathon under the name "Let’s Stir a Brain Crinkle".

№4. A chess question.

As it is known, a special Odessa dish is the well-known stuffed fish. Having arrived to Odessa, one world chess champion has ordered some portions of this delicacy for himself.

The matter is that in his country, well known for the seafood, the similar culinary masterpiece is not present. Alas, the stomach of the chess king could not master such a quantity of this delicacy and punished his master with terrible diarrhea …

On a final banquet our hero ate only dried crusts. Name the surname of this chess player.

Meet you in a week!
Your heading leader, Honoured Chess Master of Sports of Ukraine Sergey Tkachenko.
